Beth Geatches has been performing with Crayons Improv since May 2012. Beth began performing improv in the 4th grade in Edmond, OK and never stopped. In October 2009, she co-founded the University of Tulsa’s first and only improv troupe, Spiked Punch Lines Improv, and acted as artistic director of the group for two years and was a regular performer for five years. She also founded and directed the Tulsa-based troupe Operation Improv in September 2011. More recently, she also improvises as the sassy old lady Ruth in the show Back In My Day, a fierce and feisty duo she and fellow Crayons member Anna Bennett created in October 2013.
Beth has trained in Chicago at The Second City Training Center in summer intensive improv and writing courses, as well as with touring companies of The Second City and UCB at workshops in the Tulsa area. She has performed with the ComedySportz Houston Rec League in Houston, TX and The Center for Improv Advancement in Bakersfield, CA. Beth has taught improv workshops for children, teens, and adults in Tulsa, Edmond, and Houston. She graduated in December 2013 from the University of Tulsa with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Film Studies. When she’s not doing improv, writing, running, or cooking lasagna, she has a job in the “real world” as a combustion engineer.
